History
Since 2000, the Phoenix Institute has been delivering a range of exciting programs that enrich our lives and the people around us. People who come to Phoenix want to learn, understand and explore new spiritual understandings and ways of being that allow us to live in creative relationships within supportive communities in our natural environment. Phoenix programs are for people who want a deeper understanding of one-self and others, a strong sense of purpose and direction, life skills for managing transitions, to be able to express themselves, be creative and meet like-minded people. Phoenix is an organization that embraces inspiration and healing through awareness and creativity. Much of its philosophy is drawn from the work of transpersonal writers and practitioners. Students who attend Phoenix activities are from different walks of life, ages and cultural and educational backgrounds.
Courses Accreditation
In 2005 the Phoenix Institute became a Registered Training Organization (RTO No. 21582) and delivers Ikon Diploma courses that are Government accredited under the National Training Information Service (NTIS).
Since 2006, Phoenix Institute has been registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) No: 02701K and is accredited to deliver the Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy (51431) and the Diploma in Transpersonal Counselling (51432).
Phoenix Diplomas are accredited by the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT and the Victorian Association of Holistic and Transpersonal Counsellors (VAHTC).
Ikon
The Diplomas in Transpersonal Counselling and the Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy are Ikon courses that were developed by Dr Rafael Locke, who founded Ikon in 1987. Dr Locke spent many years developing courses that provide a unique understanding and skills for people wanting to train as psycho-spiritual counsellors and art therapists. Since Dr Locke's pioneering work, Institutes and Colleges across Australia are delivering the Ikon Diplomas. The Phoenix Institute has the license to deliver these programs in Victoria. Professional Development
Phoenix also provides professional development opportunities through its workshops and seminar presentations (click here to view 2008 Wotrkshops in more detail). These provide a valuable service for people interested in spirituality and personal development, for professionals and those interested in psycho-spiritual education, art therapy and training.
New Courses 2009
Phoenix is currently developing a Bachelor's Degree in Holistic Counselling, Transpersonal Art Therapy and Dance Therapy. These courses are scheduled for 2009.
