Entrance Requirements

  • Higher School Certificate (HSC), Matriculation
  • Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or equivalent
  • Aged 18 years and over, with satisfactory literacy proficiency skills equivalent to the successful completion of the Higher School Certificate and normal requirements for workplace reporting and record keeping.

English language proficiency requirements

  •  If English is not your principal language, or if the language of instruction for your prior qualification was not in English, you need to provide proof of proficiency in English. This is through an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic score of 6.5 or higher with no sub‑score less than 6, or completion of an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course, or an equivalent score in an English language test recognised by the Institute. This proof of proficiency must have been attained within the past two years.


All prospective students need to participate in an interview to determine their suitability for the course.
Interviews will be scheduled from mid year to January 2015.

Recommended experience:
Prospective students for the dance movement therapy course need to be enthusiastic about working with others through the medium of dance and movement.
Some experience in working with people in a human service role is recommended.  This can be either be paid or volunteer work.

Some experience in dance, especially improvised dance forms is strongly recommended.  Many organisations offer such opportunities:  the DTAA (Dance Movement Therapy Association of Australia), Ausdance and other dance organisations promote classes and workshops open to the public.
