The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care program is designed to be delivered in a combination of online training and workplace experience with assessment both on the job and off the job through project and questions. In addition students will be required to attend one day of practical training and assessment per term at a Phoenix delivery site.
Work placement of 240 hours duration at an approved facility under the supervision of a qualified carer is required. Work placement will commence only after the theoretical component of the first 4 units has been completed. Placement will occur during the remaining part of the course and be undertaken on days and times agreed to between the student and host organisation. All students use a Placement Activity Guide that outlines to the Host Organisations, which tasks the student needs to undertake to enable them to build on the competencies taught in the course. Assessments by Phoenix Institute of Australia assessors are conducted in the workplace and a Third Party Report from a workplace supervisor is also required. Phoenix Institute of Australia has Host Agreements with a large number of providers (approximately 40) and will arrange the placement on behalf of each student.
