Martin has been directing and teaching at Phoenix for ten years. Prior to this, he lectured and worked as a Senior Consultant at RMIT University. He has an interest in rites of passage, ethics, cross-cultural work and psycho-spiritual approaches to counselling. He was cofounder of the Australian Centre for Archetypal Studies at La Trobe University and completed his
Masters Degree at Melbourne University. He is currently completing his PhD at La Trobe University.

Dr Locke is the founder of the Ikon Institute and developed the Ikon Diplomas. He has spent over 30 years in education, training and research. He trained in Australia and the US in anthropology, psychology, medical science and natural medicine. After Doctoral studies in Australia, he received a CSIRO post-doctoral fellowship at MIT and Harvard. Dr Locke is
currently a Professor in the Department of Perceptual Studies, School of Psychiatry, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia USA.

Maria Elena trained as a lawyer and has many years experience in commercial and revenue law. With her love of Shamanic work, Maria Elena has travelled extensively throughout Europe and the Americas, undertaking rigorous shamanic training over the last
ten years. She weaves these interests together as co-leader in the Peru tours offered by the Institute.

Anjali moved to Australia from India in 2005 to pursue a Graduate Diploma in Dance/ Movement Therapy at RMIT and subsequently in 2007 she completed a Diploma in Transpersonal Art Therapy at the Phoenix Institute. She has previously worked in communications and administration within the telecommunications industry and has also gained invaluable organisational experience managing her own business.

Dr Bernie Neville is Associate Professor in Education at La Trobe University where he has taught for many years. He has also been involved in the professional education of both teachers and counsellors. He is the author of numerous books and papers exploring the ideas of Carl Jung and Carl Rogers, and is president of the Victorian Association for Holistic and Transpersonal Counselling.

Judith Ayre

Judith is a counsellor and psychotherapist who works holistically within a Transpersonal
and soul-centred framework. She uses experiential and arts-based practical processes
with couple and families, as well as individuals. Judith is on the Individual Register of the
Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia and she also teaches La Trobe
University.

Linda Murrow

Linda completed her Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy in Boston in 1986 and became
a registered dance/movement therapist. Since moving to Melbourne, she has taught
Dance Therapy at Melbourne University and helped to develop the Master of Creative
Arts Therapy and Graduate Diploma of Dance Therapy at RMIT, where she also worked
as a lecturer and supervisor for 12 years. She currently works as a relationship counsellor
at Relationships Australia.

Roman Ilgauskas

Roman is a professional transpersonal art therapist and counsellor, and works with music and imagery, dreams, art therapy, and the imagination in psychotherapy. In the 1990’s, Roman facilitated dream groups and wilderness therapy in the far northern wilderness of Canada alongside Dr Robert Johnson. He has taught at Phoenix since 2004 and continues
to lead the Institutes successful dream group workshops. He is currently a candidate with the International Society for Sandplay Therapy (Zurich).

Katrina works with individuals and groups using art therapy and music. She was involved in establishing an art therapy program in Sri Lanka for orphans of the tsunami. She also teaches music and has a background in performance, body work and yoga. She has been teaching at Phoenix for the last 4 years. |

Jenni works in private practice and supervision with individuals and groups. She was involved in setting up The Art Therapy Studio at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre in Kew. Jenni has been lecturing at Phoenix for the last nine years and is currently completing her Doctorate using Arts based research methods. |

Geoffrey Favaloro

Geoff is a Registered Psychologist and Reiki Master Teacher. He has been providing Counselling and Coaching to both individuals and in group training seminars since 1990. Geoff has trained over 2000 people in more than 180 workshops - at venues such as Monash University, Holmesglen TAFE colleges, and the Centre for Adult Education (CAE).

Michael Shaw

Michael commenced his professional life as a teacher and then ran his own business. He is a qualified teacher in mindfulness meditation, teaches theatre improvisation classes and is currently studying transpersonal art therapy. Michael has a particular interest in men’s groups which saw him host a radio show about men’s issues called “Mankind” for two years.
